Toilet that runs on it's own..
My Toilet keeps running. Thought it was the flapper, so I put food coloring in the tank. It keeps running on its owner every 30 minutes or so but NO FOOD COLORING in toilet.

    What's the problem?

    Thanks,
    Peter

I'm not sure what the exact problem is but can tell you that replacing the mechanism in the toilet is an easy job and the kit of new parts is extremely cheap. I'd just replace the whole thing. Take a picture of the inside of the tank, take it to your hardware store and they'll show you what to do and tell you how to do it. There are instructions in the package as well.

Last time I had to do this for a toilet in my house it cost me a grand total of $11 and about an hour of my time, including going to the store.
