    Generator problems
    Has anyone experienced rotor axial float oscillations? We have 6.5M gensets and while measurinf the movement of the rotor under load (expecting it to move towards the prime mover) we saw that it was actually ocillating at a slow steady rate about 4mm. Can any explain this please?

    I doubt anyone here is involved with 6.5 Megawatt generators.

    Do a web search for:

    "generator rotor axial float oscillations",

    You will find several websites that address this condition.
