    Whirlpool convection oven
How can I tell if the convection feature is working on my new gas range? Last night I baked two frozen chicken pot pies and it took just as long as it did in my previous electric oven. I just got this oven two days ago and this was my first time to try the convection feature.

With the convection on, you should hear a small fan that circulates the air. In normal bake, no fan.

The purpose of the fan is to evenly distribute the heat and prevent burning, not to cook it faster necessarily, although it may cook some things faster, pot pies would not be one of those. A microwave may have been better for things like pot pies, and other frozen dinners and entrées.
