    Restitution payments/hearing
I was ordered (joint severely) to pay $21,000 restitution. My previous parole officer told me there was no way we would have it paid off before max out date and would have to go to restitution hearing. I have made payments on it but there will still be a substantial amount left once I get off parole. Will this amount be dropped? Or what sort of thing happens when the parolee has made effort and have never been violated but a balance remains?

That would be up to the judge. It could be that you will be required to serve the balance of your sentence. Or probation could be extended for enough time in which to complete the payments.

I'm not on probation. I'm on parole with a max out date in a year. My parole officer said they can't extend parole so it would have to be settled in a restitution hearing.
