    Hair coloring problems
I have been coloring my hair since I was 21 - always shades of red. I'm now 66, so you can see, my hair is pretty much convinced it's "naturally" red. Trouble is, I felt like going with a golden brown (which is close to my REAL natural color) and it still comes out red!

This may be genetics, since my mother, her three sisters, and their mother all had naturally red hair. But mine was always a mud brown (which I hated).

Is there any safe way to get the color I want short of bleaching/stripping the hair? At this age, everything is more fragile -- including my hair!
