I was driving my dakota when the gas pedal gave out, my gas light was on. I added gas but it still wouldn't start. I have all my dash lights and power. Could it be the alternator or just a sensor?

Turn the ignition switch to ON, until the fuel pump stops running; then, turn the switch to OFF. Repeat this process two more times. This will fully pressurize the fuel rail. On the final time, turn the ignition switch to START. The engine should fire right up, especially if you have more than just a token amount of gas in the tank.
