    Child rights & child support
Im josh, my 39 yr old girlfriend decided "by herself" to STOP taking her birth control & now she's pregnant.. SHE KNEW if she had asked me to have a baby my answer would be no... I have an 8yr old son & have been a widower since 2007.. She's now 6 months pregnant with a girl.. We've broken up a couple times just because we knew we could never live 2gethr... She also has an 8 yr old son & her brothers & dad are my good friends.. However, since this pregnancy that I didn't want, nor did I agree to... What love we had 4 each other has turned to hatred... I just turned 32 & I'm NOT READY 4 another baby right now.. I know how terrible it sounds & I swear I'm a good man... I live in Florida... If I get a judge to let me sign the rights over to her & let her have the baby 100% of the time... BCUZ That's WHAT SHE WANTED... Would I still be liable to pay child support?

Sorry to tell you... if you are the dad.. you will be paying.

Sorry to say... she can dupe you into it... and there really isn't much you can do if you participated willingly with sleeping with her. I assume she didn't hold a gun on you at the time.

You can't sign away rights unless she finds another guy who eventually wants to adopt. Only then would your legal obligations end.

This is why I tell guys to wear a condom... unless you are married and trying to have kids... BOTH. Even if she DOES take the pill... she can still get pregnant... the odds are never zero.. just very low.. If she lies about it... then the odds are high... and there are women who will do that to latch onto a guy in the mistaken belief a baby will fix relationship problems.

And we do have several members that will tell you even WITH condoms AND the pill it can still happen. Because it did with them.

You can not sign your rights away, unless she has a new HUSBAND and he wants to adopt.

You can allow her in court to have full custody. You don't have to ask for any visitation.
But you will be paying child support, there is no way for you to get out of it.

Why would there be men in prison today for failure to pay support if they could have just signed the rights away.

So no contact, no rights, that is great, but your obligation of support and perhaps medical insurance will be ordered.

So if you had not wanted a child ( sorry birth control is not 100 percent effective anyway) you should have opted for porn and masturbation not sex.

There is this myth that a parent can just sign away their rights. But its just a myth. Only a court can issue TPR. And courts are very reluctant to do so. They will not do so just to allow a parent out of child support.

You contributed to this child, no form of birth control is 100% so you will be held responsible.
