    Tax help
How much was my employer supposed to take out of my check for state and federal taxes? I live in Oregon I am single and have one Dependent. I made about 15,000 last year. All that was taken out of my check was for medicare and social security. Also do you have any ideas of why she didn't take out state and federal taxes? My total allowances were 3.

"She" is the person to ask and the person who presumably has the answer.

My suggestion is that with three exemptions and your total income you do not owe taxes; therefore, none were withheld.

The REASON no taxes were withheld is because you claimed THREE exemptions.

However, at $15,000, your tax liability is only $528. You can wait until 15 April 2013, file the return electronically, then have the money debited from your bank account with NO penalties because the tax liability is LESS than $1,000.
