How do you determine that the distributor is bad in a 1989 honda accord?
I get spark from the coil to the distributor, but I do not get spark to the plug. Replaced the rotor, cap, and plugs, still no fire to the plugs. Do I need to replace the distributor? Had the timing belt replaced about 400 miles ago. Engine has 10100 miles on it.

. Ohm out the spark plug wires and check for deterioration--replace, if warranted.

. Install a new igniter and coil, if the problem persists. Both components may be marginal, at best. Apply silicone heat transfer compound to the back of the new igniter. I recommend replacing these problematic components every 120,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.

The distributor housing is likely fine, if it's a genuine Honda product and no internal sensor codes (CKP, TDC, or CYL) were thrown, no orange dust is inside, no oil is leaking in, and the bearing is good. All distributor housings that are not made by Honda are suspect and junk, in my opinion, and need to be replaced.
