    Etg's and Ets's
I am currently on probation for a DUI and I take etg's on a regular basis. I received a call today that I had a positive. I have not drank so I am planning to have them retest the sample which means they will use an ets. My cutoff is at 500ng and my po says I was at 700ng. Is it worth it to get the sample retested?

Yes! One thing is certain. The EtG from your 2nd sample will be different. EtG can be created in vitro. For now, they are saying the EtS is not.

Either way, if you did not drink, you should attempt to think of ways that you may have been exposed to alcohol. It may come from foods, cold meds, cleaning products, etc.

Ok. They are actually doing an ets on the same sample. I was trying to remember if I ate anything and it is possible. But according to what I've read there is no way for them to differentiate between the food or actual consumption. Is 700ng really that much?

Even if they ran EtG on the same sample again, the results would not be the same. Levels over twice as high as yours have been reported from incidental exposure.

Don't limit your exposure thoughts to what you ate or drank. Hand Gel, cologne, gasoline (contains 10% ethanol) could also be af fault (vapors).

If you truly did not drink, don't accept a + test without challenging the results. Ask for a PEth blood test and/or an FAEE Hair test.

I did challenge it they said the only farther testing they would do is an ets on the exact sample. The funny thing is I took a test the very next day and that EtG was clean. I am a manager at a call center and I use a lot of hand sanatizer so if people have test twice as high I would assume that would be it. However they don't care if your test shows over 500ng and they would send me to jail.

Wait to see the results of the EtS. Do get a copy of your results of your first test. It will have your creatinine level listed as well. Your lawyer will need this if it goes that far.

Etg/ets testing [ 10 Answers ]

DrBill, I might have an EtG test soon. I will be about 110 ten hours from my last drink. I did drink pretty heavily that night? With that said, what are the chances of etg/ets showing in my urine from that night aprox 110 hours from last drink? Thanks for your help!
