    Acute pancreatitis
    My sister in law was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis March 2012, due to many years of heavy drinking. She started drinking again about 2 weeks ago. How dangerous is this for her?

    Very dangerous. Apparently she doesn't remember how painful it is.

    Can she die... She's about 100 pounds and in her later 40's.

    Death is a possibility due to hemorrhagic pancreas, liver or kidney involvement, or necrotizing pancreatitis.
