I need some help with wiring a Hampton Bay Ceiling fan. The fan is multi-speed and has a light as well.

This house was pre-wired for the ceiling fan and has a white, black, red & copper wire. There is a separate switch for the fan and the light that are both right next to each other.

The problem I have is that the fan itself only has a black, white & green. When I connect the white-white, black-black, & green-copper; the ceiling fan works from the switch but the light does not work from the switch. The light does however work from the remote control.

Any thoughts as to how I can get the fan light to also work from the dedicated switch?

... wire in the unit. You have only mentioned the wires associated with the light. Before the fan will work you need to locate and wire the 'hot' wire associated with the fan.

The only wires in the unit that can be connected to the wiring in the ceiling are the white, black & green. The instructions only show connecting the black white & ground wires. The only wires in the ciling fan mount are the 1 white, 1 black, 1 red & 1 copper.

The fan and light both work but the switch only controls the fan, not the light. The remote controls both the fan & the light.

... are wired together (black and white) at some point in the unit. You must locate where they are joined and then you will also find the receiver for the light. This is where it gets tricky as the receiver also has the means for controlling the intensity of the light but this unit will have a single wire coming out of it and wired directly to the lights. You disconnect the receiver from the hot wire and the lights and connect the red wire to the lights bypassing the receiver.
