Love, do you believe in it?
Because I sure don't. I've been in two serious relationships. One lasted for 6 months but it felt like 3 years. And another lasted a year and a half. I'm only 21 so yes I am young. But believe me I wasn't your average young adult with childish ways. I was mature but I did like to have fun. Had some flings here and there at parties but because I'm young still just starting my adulthood.

In my relationship that lasted for a year and a half I was with a wonderful girl. I never betrayed her in any way. I trusted her and she trusted me. I took her virginity away after the seventh month we went out. She felt that she was ready. I really cared for her and we did start saying "I love you" after 6 months of going out. But I didn't feel that "love" that people talk about, that great feeling that you have for your partner that you can't seem to explain but it feels so wonderful. But believe me I cared for this girl a lot.

We broke up because after a year and a half I was bored of her. She became annoying to me even though she was great to me. I just didn't want to be with her anymore. And that's why I feel like there's really no such thing as love. Because there's a difference between being "IN love" (if it exists) and just loving someone in my opinion. Just loving someone is taking a step further from the "like" mode to a higher mode. But not that special feeling mode. Maybe there will be a special girl that makes me feel that "special" feeling that means I'm in love. Who knows. If anything I might just be stupid about it all. Haha.

Many people have blinders on when they first get into a relationship. They see only the good points in a person. Then after the relationship gets comfortable they start seeing the aggravating parts of a person. Read a few of these questions on here and you will see.

There are probably varying degrees of love. Just because you haven't found your soul mate doesn't mean you won't ever find her. I can tell you love does exist because I am in love for the first and hopefully last time in my life.

I find it interesting that you can proclaim a universal truth based on 2 relationships by the age of 21.
You have started to realize the different kinds of love and explained it well, and I am sure that you will find that there are almost infinite varieties of love, or perhaps an almost infinite variety of ways to describe love, since it's so subjective.
(I have a hard time with love in relationships for reasons having to do with my childhood, but that's neither here nor there on the universal scale.)

PS: I get sort of annoyed when guys say they 'took a girl's virginity.' She got rid of it herself, unless you forced her. Was your virginity 'taken' when you first had sex?

"I get sort of annoyed when guys say they 'took a girl's virginity.'" Thank you. I was back and forth on whether to say something about that too. It didn't sit well with me either.

Sorry about wording it that way. It's just a way I always have said it.

Perhaps one day I will find her. Congrats to you on finding the one special someone.
