    Live cables??
    Was told by the cable repair man there is electricity runningt through the cable line... why would that be

    Faulty equipment at either end.. or someone managed to put a screw or nail through a power line AND the cable.

    And where is this voltage, in your lines in the home, or the line coming from the street?

    More than likely he was referring to the electrical properties of the signals being carried back and forth to the cable modems.
