    Cold
I have a Colman central electric furnace model # 3400A818
The heat seemed to work fine until temp outside falls below 30 deg.
Took front panel off, blower works fine but coil elements only get slightly warm.
It also has a heat pump and on the thermostat an emergency heat switch,
When I tried to use it nothing happened.
I'm kind of girly, but with good instruction and or advice maybe I could fix it.
Don't have the money to hire out, also can't find manual that goes with it.

It's 16 degrees outside any help would be much appreciated.

Many older heat pumps, (and even many new ones) don't heat well once the temp drops below 30. The emergency heat setting on the thermostat should kick on the electric backup, and most likely will shut off the heat pump. Has the unit always done this, or did it just start not heating properly? Lots of options with a heat pump system with electric backup.

Just moved in in September, previous owner was evasive with the workings of all appliances so all is new to me, all I was told about heater was if I use the emergency heat it would cost a fortune.
I turned it on this evening and the coils got warmer then they did before gave some heat but I think it was 32 deg. Outside, going to fool with it again in the morning brrrrrr hope to have more accurate symptoms to report.
Question, when you turn on emergency heat is it supposed to turn off the blower, and am I supposed to turn the fan from auto to on, when using EM, I turned EM on it just went quiet and I left it on for 5 minutes with no results.
Anyway really want to thank you for responding, hope we can continue with my problem if it's OK with you.

I know you say you don't have money... but you really are going to have to get someone in to look at it because you need the right tools AND the right knowledge because you will be dealing with high voltage with the Emergency heat (in effect electric heat) that can kill you.

The difference between getting a really bad shock and with having your heart stop (in effect a fatal shock)... is what path the current takes going through your body.
