Utility Water Pump
Have a Flotec utility pump. When you tilt the pump the motor runs good
Laying it flat motor stops. I already am using a new Wayne pump. Wonder if the Flotec pump needs brushes or maybe the motor is bad.

Is there a float switch on the Flotec pump?
If so, is gravity causing an open switch when the pump is tried in different positions?

Does it operate automatically (comes on when water reaches a certain level) or strictly manual switch off and on (only pumps when you turn the switch on).
Did you just recently notice that it doesn't work unless tilted or have you moved it and now notice that it doesn't work in certain positions?
Worn out brushes would usually cause a motor to not work in any position as the brushes are held in position and moved forward by a spring so not affected by position and gravity/water level.. If there is no float switch involved (no automatic operation) and position affects whether it runs or not, maybe bad bearing.

The transfer pump. You just plug it in. Has in and out. Setup for a 5/8 garden hose.
The pump did not come on when I plugged it in. When I picked it up, it started running.
I also though it had a bad connection in the wiring. I put a brand new Wayne brand pump
On. It is working good. I guess the Flotec is a goner.

Sounds like a possible shock hazard just in picking it up. Best to get rid of it.
