    Knocking apartment pipe
I live in an apartment, so the resolution of this problem will likely need to be taken care of by the apartment complex. But I wanted to see if I could find some answers and know what I am getting into first. My concern is that they will need to tear down walls and such.

Either way, to the problem now. When ever got the shower or tub faucet is turned on, a quite loud knocking or pounding can be hard directly behind the faucet wall of the shower. My bedroom is on the opposite side of the faucet wall which is really where my concern lies. Any ideas?

Not to worry! Your walls are safe. The problem is in the tub/shower valve itself. If you can tell us the type and make of the valve we can provide a solution. Is this a one handled valve? Back to you, Tom

I can not find any type of name brand displayed any where. But it is a two handled faucet. Anything else I can do to find more details for you?

I don't need a brand name with a two handled valve, ()see image) Sounds like a washer's loose. Shut the water off and open up the valve. Check and replace the washers if necessary. Good luck, Tom

Mysterious knocking hot water pipe [ 7 Answers ]

A plumber replaced a valve near the exit from my water heater. He was pretty medieval with the valve and pipes, because he was only supposed to replace a pipe with a pinhole leak. Since then the hot water pipes knock/bang when turned on, for a few seconds (maybe 3-5 bangs/knocks). I hear it in my...

Pipe knocking at same time every day. [ 10 Answers ]

Hi there, I have a situation that popped up a couple of weeks ago in which there appears to be a knocking/vibrating sound coming from the pipes that feed each of our two bathrooms. What is particularly strange is this sound occurs at the same time every day (around 12:40 p.m.) and lasts on and...

Water pipe or heater knocking [ 7 Answers ]

There is a very loud and increasingly more frequent knocking of pipes in my wall. It seems to be coming from the water heater and vibrating through the pipes. I've tried draining the heater with no change. The knocking doesn't seem to be associated with using water, hot or cold, as it will be...

Pipe Knocking and Popping that does not seem to stop. [ 1 Answers ]

I hope someone can answer my question. As a background I live in an apartment building (2nd Floor of 3 total). I want to be able to tell my landlady exactly what is going on and the easiest way to fix it so she cannot turn me down as easy. I have loud popping/knocking noises coming from my...

Constant knocking - but I think the pipe is secure? [ 3 Answers ]

I have a bit of a new twist on a common question here. First - I live in an approximately 30 year old house in the Chicago area. Obviously not cold here right now, but we have had a lot of rain lately (not sure that's pertinent). When I first moved in 1.5 years ago, I noticed a knocking noise in...
