    Central electric heat problems
    I have an electric air conditioning/heating unit with the added feature for supplemental heating when the temperature is below 40. My outdoor unit is covered in ice, but there is no other ice outside, and the temperature is 37.

    What is the problem?

    Sounds like the outdoor heat pump is not operating as in self defrosting. That is an area that usually requires on site HVAC professional help to fix it correctly.
