I just had Mirena inserted 3weeks ago, the last couple days I have had serious nipple pain, my stoamch feels hard and when I smoke a cig first thing in the morning I feel sick. I'm still bleeding from the Mirena insertion, at first it was very light but now its like a regular period. Are these some of thhe side effects or could I be pregnant with Mirena.

Pregnancy is always a possibility, as there's no form of birth control that's 100% effective.

Any complications with the mirena should be discussed with your doctor.

There's really no way to answer that question. I'm sorry. I wish we could tell you exactly what's going on, but that's impossible to do over the internet.

Your best bet really is to see your doctor. I'm not just saying that to pass the buck, it's because we really can't diagnose online, we can't even guess. It would be a great disservice to you if we even tried.

I understand your fear. Hopefully this is just a side effect of the mirena. But, can pregnancy happen with it? Yes, it can. We have a few members on this site that got pregnant while using the mirena.

The sooner you find out what's going on, the better your options. So see your doctor, find out. If you need emotional support, or need help deciding what to do should you find out you're pregnant, we're here to help with that if you so choose.
