Water randomly just came out of my shower drain?
I was sitting in my room when I heard a gurgling sound, so I ran to my bathroom and saw my shower drain was pumping out murky water with brown chunks in it. After probably 30 seconds it stopped, and a few minutes later the water drained away. I sniffed the air above the water when it was there and it didn't smell like sewage or anything, but it certainly looked gross. I haven't touched my toilet, shower, or sink for a couple of hours, I think 4? My room is connected to the back of somebody's house though, so I suppose that they could have recently flushed a toilet or something, but I don't know if my pipes are connected to their's (I can't flush toilet paper down my toilet because it's electric or something, but I know that they can flush paper in their house). This is probably the third time that I have been around to hear this happen, and I think it started around a month ago? Can someone please tell me what is happening here?

I'm renting a room in someone's house but it has a separate entrance, so I never actually go in the house and I can't see what they are doing in there

I would imagine your plumbing is connected to the house drain. It would appear that the main drain is partially clogged and it is backing up into your drain which is probably the lowest point. I would explain what is happening and they should have the line augered. This is not a healthy circumstance and should be addressed.

You need to tell the landlord about this, they have a partially clogged drain line and it is backing up into your tub ( lower point) As noted this can cause all types of health issues and need to be fixed

Chuck's right! You have a partial blockage downstream from your shower that must be snaked.
I don't know if my pipes are connected to their's
    It's for sure you're connected.
(I can't flush toilet paper down my toilet
That's insane! Who ever heard of a toilet you couldn't flush toilet paper down? Will it flush human waste or did the land lord furnish you with a out house? Please explain? Back to you Tom
