Trying to get pregnant, any advice?
Hey, I'm 21 years old and me and my boyfriend have been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year, with no luck. I have normal periods and whatnot. But I am on medication, Trazadone 150mg, Seraquil 50mg, Baclofen 5mg (taking 2-3 a day) and Citalopram 40mg. Could any of these medication be getting in the way? Any advice on things I should do or shouldn't do?
    Please Help!

    LOTS of advice.

    1. Get married. Custody issues are a LOT easier to establish if you're married when the child is born. If you're willing to have a child with someone, you're willing to be connected to them for the rest of your life, so for the sake of the child, GET MARRIED.

    2. Consult your OB/Gyn about any medications and their side effects. You want to make sure anything you are taking will not hurt a fetus, as by the time you realize you are pregnant, you will have continued to take medication for at least a couple weeks after conception.

    3. Start tracking your ovulation. The best way to do this is through charting your basal body temperature every day to establish the pattern of your ovulation, then plan to have sex in the couple of days BEFORE you expect to ovulate.

It takes an average of about a year for most couples to get pregnant when they are actively trying to do so. It took my husband and I 10 years. It probably would not have taken as long if we had consulted physicians sooner, as I have medical conditions that were making it extremely difficult to get pregnant. It took a good OB/Gyn to figure that out for us, and fertility medication to make it happen. So... your priority step should be seeing an OB/Gyn and establishing a good relationship with him/her.

The medications you are taking can indeed cause birth defects. You should schedule a pre-conception appointment with a good OB/GYN.
