    Is shingles a dangerous condition? Does amoxicillin help treat shingles?

    Shingles is a recurrence of the Chickenpox virus... antibiotics of ANY type are completely worthless for viruses.

    Shingles can be serious and can be very painful. It can also last a very long time. I would not guess what to treat it with - you definitely need medical attention for shingles from a real doctor, not internet advice.

    There is a Shingles vaccine and there are medications to reduce the length of the symptoms.
