Georgia moving laws
Ok I'm seriously like 30 days till I turn 18. My boyfriend is moving the day after christmas to az and I would like to go with him. Would the time between dec 25 and Jan 17 would my mother be able to call me as a runaway and make me return or would the cops not care. Should I call our sheriff office and ask?

You would be considered a runaway until you turn 18.

Are you 6 months away from finishing high school? You might get away with running off just before your birthday, depending on how much your mother yells at the police to go get you, but can't you see the folly of not waiting until you finish? Who will support you? How old is he, and how does he support himself? Moving isn't cheap all by itself, and getting settled in a new place even more costly. All those 'things' around the house you enjoy, not just food and heat - will you miss them? Do you have a cell phone by any chance, and someone who pays the bill for that each month? The shock of supporting yourself will hit hard, I'll bet.

Yes she can, she could also ask the state to even charge boyfriend with kidnapping or custodial interference. Have him arrested and bought back.
The police can not give you advice, only enforce the law and complaints that are made.

Much as I don't like revealing this, OP asked what the law is. Georgia does not bring back runaways between the age of 17 and 18. The protocol for police is 'Locate Only- Do Not Detain.'

If you go now there could be serious consequences to your actions. It is against federal law to take a minor child (since your not 18) across a state line. Even if you drive yourself then your boyfriend can be charged with a federal crime and prison time.
How old is your boyfriend and why is he moving?

In Georgia, it honestly ( and I was there and have first hand on this) will depend on who the parents are and if the DA wants to make an example. ** love election years*
So if the parents of the minor push hard enough, go to Federal DA and pushes it with the state DA, they can bring charges against the adult.

The bigger question here is how old is the boyfriend? Why is he moving? What will he be doing for support?
Also Joy brought up a good question about your finishing school.
Clearly your mother doesn't approve of you going, why is that? As far as the law is concerned, I doubt if the police will go after you as a runaway, but depending on the answers to my questions your boyfriend could be in trouble.
