Must be a mighty big pump for a 6" discharge line. Back in the 80's I ran a 4 " line to a pole barn in south central Florida, My code didn't call for a air release valve. I can see no advantage to installing a air vent on a 2K line unless there's no check valve installed and the line will empty each time the pump shuts off. Then the line will have to be bled each time the pump kicks on. Would you care to tell me why you're asking about a air vent?
Back to you, Tom

Hi, as came to know from my colleagues if we doesn't install air release valves, possibility of having air locks in pipes. And the hdpe pipe line installed of 2k meters is having many ups and down. As for as check valves it is provided between pumps headers. Pumps are of IIT LOWARA.
Thanks.for your suggestion and reply.

Let's see if We're on the same page here. My dictionary tells me that air lock occurs when A bubble or pocket of air or vapor, as in a pipe, that stops the normal flow of fluid through the conducting part. Is that your defination? I've had air lock on a gravity system but never in a pressurized system If your check valve holds there should be no reason for air to enter a pressurized line. Is this some kind of a code thing or simply something you've been told? Back to you. Tom

Hi, would you please check the link below,
Recommendations - Water Supply
Automatic air release valves continuously release relatively small quantities of air from a pressurized line. The automatic air release valve is also known as a small orifice air valve and as a pressure air valve.

I checked your link out and Thank you. Based on what I've read I have just started up a new company called "Air-No-Moire. I've hired 10 plumbers to do nothing but to go back and install air valves on all of the thousands of water services that we've installed over the years,
This will include the 4" discharge line to the pole barn.
Of course your link was furnished by the company that sells the product so if you can show me the code that requires air valves on water services that would make me a happy camper.
Since you''re so much more knowable then I am should I charge time and material or a flat rate ton install those air valves? I plan on running "scare ads" informing people of the danger of air in tour drinking water. ( Who knows where that air came from?) Thanks again for your information. If 56his catches on in my area I may just franchise
Air-No-More and go national, And I owe it all to you. Tom
