    Home based internet Porn business
Is it legal to run a live web cam porn business in the basement of a leased residential home. Are their any city, state, or federal laws prohibiting this type of activity?

Funny you should ask if there are any city, state, or federal laws that prohibit this. I don't have an answer to this but I can tell you that nobody here is going to search laws in in every city and state in the country just to post all of them for you. You may want to tell what city and state you're talking about.

Actually it may not be illegal. The laws are foggy on this. Of course you would probably be violating your ISP's rules by doing it.

In most cases it is legal as long as the models and talents are 18 and older. However, depending on the local jurisdiction, there might be zoning laws that restrict these activities in residential areas. Check with local lawyers specializing in zoning laws as well as tenant- landord contractual disputes. Generally it is better to run this kind of business out of your own house. The most permissive laws regarding this issue exist in California and Nevada, however there are plenty of businesses of that sort on the east coast also. But why would you want to start that? The golden days of porn are long gone. It is a cutthroat competition in this line of business and unless you have some ideas to surprise the customers, it will be hard to get traffic to your site. Also you would need significant seed money to start it right. If you operate on a shoe-string you will go bust in no time. Better think of something else.

I think it's safe to say that no matter what, we need more info before we can respond.

Location, age of porn stars, not to mention a lot of other info, would help us give an accurate answer.

Seems that right now we're basing our replies on very limited info. I don't know about all of you, but my crystal ball is on the fritz, which means that the OP (original poster) is going to have to fill in the gaps before anyone can give a legitimate reply. :)

So, what, castle rock Colorado. Just don't get caught, and anything on the internet is so not private any longer.

I don't like you, you are probably enabling, so just investigate your own state laws.

Again, you have to read the terms of service for your ISP. Many residential ISPs, will not allow you to conduct a business, since you will be taking bandwidth from your neighbors. So you may have to engage a commercial ISP.

Then there are local zoning laws that you need to check. But as long as the model is over 18 and consents to be involved. Its is unlikely the law will come after you.

If your landlord lives upstairs and hears you or sees you, and calls the cops, you can have a tough time, of course, even if you are strictly legal. There almost always is a law or local ordinance that can nail you, if the DA wants to nail you. Even if it's just not having a city permit to run a home business, or turning you in to the state for not having a tax ID, or turning you in to the IRS and the state for not paying income taxes. If you are paying the woman, they may decide to charge you will prostitution or pimping. Who knows what they will do if they feel like it.

    Hello M:

In terms of criminal activity, it's perfectly legal.. However, in terms of your agreements, it's probably not. That, of course, depends on your agreements.
