GFCI keeps tripping after rain outside got christmas lights wet
I have a GFCI in my garage that connects to my exterior outlet switches where I have my Christmas lights plugged in. It rained yesterday and my lights atuomatically turned off. The issue is now the GFCI in the garag keeps tripping and it won't reset itself. Anyone know how to fix this issue? My little one wants her Christmas lights on! Thanks!

GFCI and breakers never reset themselves, you always have to flip them manually to reset but maybe you meant they won't take your reset even manually. Do you have the lights plugged into an extension cord or directly into an outside outlet? Something is still wet. Mine took a day and a half to dry out.

Disconnect the lights and see if it resets. If it does, you still have a fault in your lights and need to dry them out. Common problem with Xmas lights and GFCI.

I had to replace a non-working GFCI receptacle that had given us problems for 3 years or so. I replaced it today, but when the power is turned on the receptacle trips, even with nothing plugged in to it directly. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it? It is an outside receptacle.
