I am so scared being charged with theft over 5 x2 and theft under 5
I live in Toronto Canada, I am a first time offender and turned 18 3 months ago, I am being charged for theft over 5 x2 and theft under , I pleaded guilty and cooperated with the cops, I stole some jewelry from a few house parties I went to, I am so scared I'm being completely honest with them, I already sold the jewlery and when I got them appraised the jewler said there is no way these are worth over one grand, and the cops are going on word from the host that it is, what should I do? Am I going to jail? I recently just got my apprenticeship to start in January I'm still in high school and I just got a job , I know this is all my fault and it was a stupid mistake, but if I go to jail all of this goes down the drain with it :( someone please help me out

A few house parties? So this was obviously more than once...

what should I do? Am I going to jail? I recently just got my apprenticeship to start in January I'm still in high school and I just got a job , I know this is all my fault and it was a stupid mistake
Seems like if it was more than once, then it was more than "a stupid mistake".

So what should you do? Hire a good lawyer is about all you can do right now. Do your parents know?

It was 3 all in the same week, I know I seem like a completely horrible person, but I'm really not,
I'm so scared I can't stop crying and stressing over this, it seems like my life is over, and no they don't know yet, I don't have the heart to tell them, we barely pay our bills and are in thousands of debt as it is, I was thinking for applying for legal aid

Someone who knows more about the law will be along soon enough to answer your question.

Time to tell your parents because it's going to be tough to keep this a secret from them for too much longer.

Yes jail is very likely, and the value will be set at trial by the retail value of the items. So the host will provide evidence as to what they sell for. The value of stolen goods often at a pawn shop are far less than actual retail value.

First too late, but never confess without an attorney, part of the crowns case is proving you did it with evidence. Evidence is not always admitted into court for many reasons. So you needed to have talked to an attorney, not helped the police, helping the police just helps send you to prison, It is like going and buying the bus ticket to go.

So no more helping the police or crown, and get an attorney

And another thing, there was no edvidence that I did it, I'm just an honest person and can't lie, will not having any evidence help me? Even though I told the cops the truth?

    Hello youngster:

The only evidence they need is the cop telling the judge that you confessed. But, I don't think you'll go to jail. I think it'll be probation... The Crown will assign you a lawyer.
