    My sick puppy
My 6 month old puppy has been sick with a high fever and his head kept bobbing.took him to the vet, was given blood work, told all organs looked good. Not really knowing what the problem is guessed it could be parvovirus. He was prescribed ampacillin and metronidazole suspension 50mg/ml. Now he seems a little better but is not eating or drinking water. I'm giving him flavor pedealite every half hr. He looks sad. Someone please help me in what to do next.

Take him to a different vet. Puppies often get parasites and a good vet should be able to figure this out. I would even take him to a 24 hour emergenc vet, actually - I would not wait until Monday with that sick of an animal, particularly when he's refusing water and food.

Puppies with Parvo have their best chance if hospitalized. He needs to go back to the vet. But you should make sure the test is done to ensure that's actually what it is..

I'm not going to second guess the dog experts, but I did have a puppy with parvo who is now 10 years old.

Antibiotics such as a amoxicillin won't help as it is a virus and has to run its course. Antibiotics are only good for bacterial infections.

Your dog needs to be hospitalized and have IV fluids run so that it doesn't suffer from dehydration. Dehydration can be as deadly as parvo.

You may want to consider another vet.
