    having my tooth extracted
So back in October I was being prepared for a crown that was recommended. I went in for the prep, and after I felt quite ill. I began to feel pain of course in the days to follow, and figured that is to be expected. The aching got worse, and began to wake me up at night. I thought it may subside, but after 2 weeks I called the dentist to inform them. I was booked another apt. for the following week where they x-rayed and indicated I would now have to undergo a root canal before crowning. I was not made aware of this type of risk prior to the crown prep.
I was booked for the following week after this for the root canal. I called after 2 days and let the dentist know the pain was becoming unbearable. She indicated she would call in an antibiotic and a pain reliever. The pain reliever was called in but no antibiotic.
I go in 5 days later to have them do root canal, and my mouth would not freeze where the back tooth on the bottom right is. They tried and tried, and began to work on the tooth, only to have me stop it due to horrible shooting pain.
It was only then that it was discovered I had an infection and a 'hot' tooth.
So I then go to a specialist endodonist to carry on with the root canal... but my mouth area and tooth just did not freeze fully. I tried so hard to take the pain, but I couldn't make it. My only option is to pull it at this point.
Is there ANYTHING I can possibly do besides pulling?? I'm 45 years old. I have 7 teeth on my bottom left and 6 on my bottom right. I mean there really isn't a tooth there right now anyway... it's a stub that is aching 24/7 and I do so many drugs in a day now it's crazy. Some thoughts please

Is there any way the endodonist can do the root canal under sedation? Is the root canal the only thing keeping you from getting the crown?

Yes she mentioned that even under sedation because it is in the nerve, I will still react to the pain

What about general anesthesia? People have surgery all the time and don't feel pain during surgery.

Ask the endodonist if they have ever used Versed in conjunction with the sedation. You might react to the pain but Versed will wipe your memory clean and you will not ever recall feeling any pain at all.
