    How do I give up parental rights and will I still be financially responsible

    This question is often asked here. If you did a search on parental rights you would have found the answer that giving up parental rights doesn't remove financial responsibility. All it does is mean you have no say in how the child is raised or visitation etc.

    You still have to pay child support after you give up any parental right, support is a obligation and very seldom can be gotten rid of. Normally if the parent with custody has a step parent who wants to adopt, you can get the payments to stop.

    If it was as easy as signing away your rights not to pay child support, there would not be 1000' of people sitting in jail this morning for not paying child support

    I think it is sad to see how many people want to give up their parental rights in the hopes of saving some cash. Once you give them up, you aren't getting them back.

    What does that have to do with my former post? You can't give up rights to a child that isn't yours to begin with, and who is talking about paying support for a kid that isn't theirs?

    And I'll also point out, there are also deadbeats who do nothing for their children at all, and that if it weren't for people having to pay child support a lot of children would suffer.

    Not only did you comment not pertian to what vlee said, but since it was a matter of opinion, it shouldn't have been given a negative comment.

    As for your comment. If anyone if paying support for a child that isn't theirs, then they are at least equally at fault. With DNA testing it is easy to confirm the paternity of a child. So anyone not sure if the child is theirs can have a test done and confirm it.
