Name of movie: guy with canary enters evacuated town taken over by lunatics
A guy with a canary in a cage is sent into a town during ww2? Or 1 - he's a soldier checking for gas. The town has been evacuated and the lunatics from the asylum have taken it over and the guy is overwhelmed by the beauty of the people until 2 opposing armies march through the main street from opposite sides, oblivious to each other they march on either side of a fountain to the cheers of the lunatic citizens, until the last soldier bends down to pick up a flower , sees the other army and starts a battle in which they are all killed to a man - the lunatics in despair go back to the asylum and the last scene is the guy with a canary naked and knocking on the door to the asylum.
