    I might need dnc
I just found out yesterday that I am 10 1/2 weeks pregnant and we searched for a heartbeat and there was no activity my doctor said that if it does not come out on it's own I will have to have a DNC procedure. Now I have never had this done. How is it done? Is very painful and how necessary is it?

Hi, very sorry to hear about your loss. I had a D&C, It was very straight forward and didn't hurt. The surgery is like a vacume that just sucks out anything that needs to come away. I went as an out patient, had general anesthetic to put me out. And was in and out within 2 hours. The only thing was it stung when going for wee the first day. This was from the stretching to operate. You will be fine and up and about in no time.
