It's different for every woman. Some women experience very bad cramping, heavy bleeding, a period that last for 2 weeks sometimes even more. Some women never even know they have their period, have light bleeding, and last for a few days. There are women that don't have regular periods, and women that can tell you the exact day and time they'll get their period.

There's no way to answer your question, because it all depends on you, and your body.

Don't be too worried. It's a natural thing. I won't lie and tell you that it will always be okay, there will be times when you cramp, and you'll feel like not doing anything. But, the first few years are the hardest, then your body settles down a bit, gets into whatever rhythm is right for you, and it will be okay.

There are tons of medications on the market, both over the counter, and by prescription, that can help with cramps.

But, you really should be talking to your mom about this. She's a woman, and she's been through this. It's best to talk to someone you know, trust, who loves you and will be there for you. She can answer any questions you have. Okay?

You're not bugging me, not at all.

I have a 10 year old daughter. I would hate for her to feel she couldn't talk to me. I'd hate it even more if she chose to go on the internet to get her information.

You got lucky, you found this site, and the people on this site are great, they won't tell you lies, and they'll make sure you get whatever information you're looking for. They'll also keep in mind that you're only 9, and there are certain things you shouldn't be exposed to at your age.

But, as a mom, it concerns me that you're on the internet looking for answers, instead of talking to your parents.

I'm only thinking about what's best for you. I would hope that if my daughter felt she couldn't talk to me, and came here, the people on this site would tell her exactly what I'm telling you.

    Do you understand?

Kiddo, I'm concerned because I know about the scary things you can find on the internet. I'm very concerned that you're joining sites. Not all sites are like this one. Most of them will not only tear you apart, but there are people on them that don't have your best interest at heart.

I don't hate that you're looking for answers, and I'm glad that you found this site, and not another one. At least here I know you're safe.

You don't have to knock it off. I'm happy to answer your questions, I just wish you'd consider talking to your parents instead of going to complete strangers for answers.

    How did I not help?

You asked if your period hurts. I answered that question. There's nothing more I can add. I gave you the facts, and those are the only facts I can give you, there's nothing more to tell.

So how is that not helpful?

I added my concern, because I am concerned. You're only 9! You shouldn't be on the internet asking about periods, bras, and answering pregnancy questions and divorce questions. That is a major concern, and I wouldn't be a decent human being if I didn't mention that concern, and do my best to make you understand.

    I'm not mad at you.

    What were you looking for?

Sweetie, you want to know if a period hurts. It can. Will it? That depends on you and your body.

No one can tell you if your first period will hurt. I can tell you about my first period, WG can tell you about hers, and every other female on this site can tell you about theirs, but no one can tell you what yours is going to be like. Not one person.

I can't make something up just because you want to know. We deal with facts on this site, and I gave you the facts.

    Do you understand that?

So tell us what you were looking for.

Frankly, I don't know what else anyone else could tell you that I haven't already told you.

Were you looking for the answer you wanted to hear, and not the truth? If so, why not just tell us exactly what you wanted us to write, or better yet, just go with the answer you think is right, since you don't want to hear the facts.

Do you realize how silly this is sweetie? You asked a question, I answered it, factually. There's nothing more to add, but you're not happy with the answer. The only possible reason for that would be that you already know what you want to hear, which would mean that you didn't need to ask the question, because no answer other than the one in your head, would be good enough.
