    Passport Query
I have a passport which is renewed in 2007. However after receipt renewed passport I seem to have misplaced my old passport. After a very long search also I can not find it and seem to have misplaced it finally.
I have a valid passport with me now. Does the fact that I don't have the old passport create any problem?
I intend to visit USA in February 2013.
    Please help.

You don't need your old passport. You have a renewed one, correct ? That is all you need to travel. When you finally find your old passport, cut it up and discard ity

I don't understand you entirely. You renewed your passport that you received in 2007; in Canada (I don't know where you are from) passport has to be renewed every six years. So, the passport you have from 2007 is expired now (probably no matter where you are from) ; so you must renew before travelling.

Or, you already have a renewed passport, is this correct?

Old passports should be cut up and discarded.

You don't have to keep old expired passports.

    Hi
    Thanks for your answer.
    I am from India.
Someone told me that you need to have all your old passports with you... with the valid also... always !
What is now clear to me is that you need only the current valid passport with you and not old copies.
    Thanks again.

Once the old passport is expired it's no longer valid. I don't understand why you would have to carry the old and the new with you. That makes no sense.

Having said that, I don't know the laws regarding this in India. I would check with the airport, they should be able to tell you what documents you need in order to travel.
