    Do x-rays show everything?
Hi, my 60-year-old sister has cough on and off.
This week she has it again. I asked her to do a chest x-ray.
She said she fell off a few months ago and at that time she did an x-ray of her entire thorax/chest to check if she fractured any bones or ribs. She said that particular x-ray would have detected if there was anything unusual in the lung (eg. A white spot).

Is this true? Is the x-ray for checking bones/ribs the same as a regular chest x-ray?

She needs a chest radiograph, normally called a CXR used for lungs
