Removing fathers name off birth certificate
My ex partener is on my 2 month old sons birth certificate. He has make the comment to me that he can get my son out of the UK without a passport and he does not show any interest in him at all... he don't even ask how he is... I have been advised by a solicitor to not let him have my son alone because of the comment so because he can not have him alone he don't bother asking to see him... because of all this isiy possible for me to remove his name from the birth certificate?

You probably can't legally prohibit him from having unsupervised visitation, absent a court-ordered custody decree. But it appears that he has elected not to enforce his rights.

Changing the birth certificate is doubtful under these circumstances. Why didn't you ask the solicitor? And why would you want to deprive your son and his descendants of this historical data regarding his father?

I would check with the Foreign Office. They can give you the rules on how a passport can be obtained along with travel permissions.

The UK subscribes to the Hague convention on parental kidnapping, so it wouldn't be as easy as he makes it out to be.

Perhaps not, but I have traveled from the UK to the continent serveral times and nobody even asked to see my passport, on at least one occasion (arriving in Brugge by ferry, as I recall). Perhaps it's tighter now.
