    Craftsman 13.5hp ohv briggs and stratton starts but won't stay running
    Hello All :o) I have a riding lawn mower that was given to me and my husband by his parents and we are having some trouble getting it started and more trouble keeping it running lol It is a Craftsman 13.5 HP OHV Briggs and Stratton I/C Model #21B807 and it is around 6 years old and was sitting up in the garage for quite a few years before we got it so I was expecting some issues but I guess I'm in a little over my head! We have cleaned out the gas tank/filled with fresh gas, used gas stabilizer, changed the spark plug, changed the oil, checked the air filter/tried to start without filter on, got a new battery and got it to start for a few seconds but we can't get it to stay running. Does anybody have any suggestions or help for me? I appreciate any advice I can get, thanks!

    Hi,
    My guess is that if it sat that long, the anti-backfire solenoid on the bottom of the carb is gummed up. You almost gave enough engine number to look it, needed 6 more and I could have got you an engine parts breakdown. Those solenoids will glue shut if they sit too long.
