Check to see if you have a 3 or 4 wire pilot. There is a switch in the pilot that does go bad or sticks. Naturally test first before replacing. Check the diagram on the inside of the blower door to find out which wires does what. Naturally since you have a No MODEL number furnace this is a guess. Sometimes it is difficult for us to help people since Bryant/Carrier company has made 2,347 different furnaces over the years. Good luck.

    Hello,

Ancient furnace burners won't light. Worked fine last year. Replaced thermo-couple (sp?) so at least we got the pilot to light. Carrier model 5868100? Series 121. Found the reset button on top but it doesn't seem like it is sticking up far enough to be legitimate.

Is there a particlar series of events that must take place in order for the burners to recognize the pilot has been re-lit? When you do need to press the reset button?

I have the switch set to on (after lighting the pilot) the termostat set to 80 and on but still my burners won't fire up.
