chronic coughing annoying
Ive been having a chronic cough for about five years now and I need to know what is wrong. I don't have the money for medical bills.
basically my coughing used to be you know simple to random to relate to anything. But now it is stronger and overtime I eat I cough a lot. And sometimes it hurts so bad it feels like I've been shot. I never smoked but my family thinks I do because I cough. Something I noticed is that I cough worse when I eat or drink dairy.
can someone help me? I can't stand not being able to take my girlfriend out to eat because of this.

This is just an experience I had and it is not necessarily advice for you. I had a cough for six months and was under the care of an allergist who kept looking for the cause without success until finally he mentioned that reflux disease can cause cough. He treated me with me with a well-known OTC reflux medication and the cough disappeared within a few days. Was it really caused by an allergen that I was no longer exposed to as the weather changed seasons? I don't know, but it was either a big coincidence or the reflux medicine cured it.
I certainly can't suggest that you try any certain medication but if you can't access a DR, maybe you could ask a pharmacist for some advice.

Maybe slightly worse but not progressively worse all the time.
And never had pain in relation to the cough.
If your pain is in the chest area you need medical attention.
Once again, if you can't see a medical doctor, talk to a pharmacist, advise him/her of your symptoms and ask them if they think that taking an acid/reflux reducing medication would be safe for you in light of your symptoms, in their opinion.
The one I take is only supposed to be used for 14 days at a time and then a break of a couple of months before using again (those are the instructions on the non-prescription OTC brand) but both my allergist and my family Dr. gave me prescriptions to be taken once per day year round.
Once again. I am only talking about myself and you need to get the professionals involved in your personal situation.
