Skipped Pill- Could I be pregnant?
On the twentieth, my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex and he came in me. I took my BC pill as usual, until the Thursday after. I don't know what happened but the next day I went to take my pill and I realized my Thursday pill was still there. I took both pills on Friday. I know sperm can stay in you for up to five days, and Thursday would have been the fifth day. For the past few days I've been having stomach pains and today I had diarrhea. I'm also feeling queasy but it's probably just from worrying. I hadn't really made the connection between my missed pill and my sickness until today when my boyfriend said he was worried about it. Should I be worried? Also I take my pills at night, so really I should have been protected all the way through Thursday, right? That's why I never worried about it until my boyfriend brought it up.

No form of birth control is 100% effective, so even if you took your pill regularly, there's still a chance of pregnancy.

The fact that you missed a pill does increase that chance.

You'll have to wait and see.

There are women on this site, and all over the world, that used 3 forms of birth control, all correctly, and still got pregnant.

The only form of birth control that's 100% is abstinence.

I guess that's a good point. A few things I might should add are that I've been having lower back pains today and a sharp pain in the center of my chest. Of course, I could be making myself feel these things just from thinking too much.

Here's the thing. I have to mention that no form of birth control is 100%, because it isn't. But you missed one pill, and you doubled up the next day, like you're supposed to.

Worrying, stress, can delay your period. A lot of things can delay your period.

Could you be pregnant? Of course you can. Any time you have sex the result could be pregnancy. But are you? That I can't answer.

Don't stress about it. Wait and see what happens when your period is due. If you miss your period, than test using first morning urine. Until then, don't stress. What's done is done, and there's nothing you can do to change it now. If you end up being pregnant, than deal with it at that time. You do have options. Pregnancy doesn't always mean raising a child. I'm more than happy to discuss those options with you, if you need to discuss them. But find out if this one oops resulted in a pregnancy before you start worrying about it, okay?

I will add, if you want to lower the odds further, the pill and a condom, is not a bad idea. Still not 100%, but it does lower the odds a bit more. Just saying. ;)

You're right. I'm trying not to worry too much, and my period is due in less than a week so I should know soon. If it gets to the point where I just can't wait, I'll just have to get a test. Thanks for your help!

Another add. Tests that claim to be accurate before you actually miss a period, are a load of bull. The majority of women don't get an accurate result until well into their first month, sometimes even until the end of their first trimester, or beginning of the second. If you decide to test before you miss a period, and it's negative, that doesn't mean you're not pregnant.

Okay, thanks for that advice. Since I'm on birth control I should know for sure that something's up if I take all of my sugar pills and never start my period.

    Exactly.

But know this. Even on the pill, stress, and a lot of other things, can throw off your period.

So relax, and don't stress, until you know for sure (and frankly I'd be surprised if you end up pregnant) that you are pregnant.

But everything else I posted does stand. If you're not ready to be a mom there's really only one way to avoid that that's 100% effective, and that's to stop having sex. I have a friend that has PCOD, one ovary, was on the pill, used a condom, was told she'd never have kids, and she got pregnant, three times! After the third she finally realized that any time you have sex, even if you're careful and even if many different specialists say you'll never have a baby, you could get pregnant. Sadly it took her 3 pregnancies to figure that out.

You had an oops, and now you're getting info that hopefully you're listening to. If you dodge the bullet this time, stop being a target. :)

So, I've continued to feel sick since I posted this question. Today I woke up and went to the bathroom and there was some blood on my toilet paper after I wiped, so I put in a tampon and did a little inner celebration because I thought the worry was finally over. Then, about 5 or 6 hours later I went to change the tampon, and all that was on it was a big blood clot. It wasn't massive, really, but bigger than what I'm used to. The size wasn't what alarmed me though. It was the fact that there was little blood other than that, and its been about 6 more hours since then and I've barely bled. This is really unusual for me...
