Do you have to have a lawyer to write a contract for deed in tx
I am wanting to buy a trailer house with land and the owner wants to write up a contract without a lawyer for owner financing that way we or he does not have to pay for the lawyer costs. I am young and new at this we are planning on using a notary to make it at least official. But my dad says that a deed for the land has to be written up by a lawyer to be binding. I'm in palo pinto county in Texas. Is this true thanks for any help

Your dad is wrong, but he is smart. I would not enter into any land contract without an attorney to, at least, review it.

If the seller will allow you can pay for the attorney. But I am suspect of anyone who want to do a transaction like this without an attorney. You may wind up with the short end of the stick.

If you are smart.. you will get a lawyer to do it for you... too many landmines to deal with if its not. Meaning you can get screwed bigtime...
