    Landlord's threats
    Hello ,

I rented a single room in a three bed room house.
    Basically Here is the story.

I rented a single bed room in a three bed room house by looking into an advertisement in an Indian Website
Basically it's a three bed room house, where the other two rooms were occupied by two other persons.

We do not have any lease and we basically agreed upon going on a month to month basis.
The agreement is that the total rent is $ *** including all utilities.

All 3 of us have duplicate copies of a master key of the house. And more over the house owner shared the key of his house with couple of his friends,so that they can inspect the house in his absence.(The house owner lives in a different state)

All three of us living in the hosue vacated it one by one and I am the last to vacate.
Now the owner calls me and asks me for more money stating that he got extra utilities bill,Cost for changing the locks and cleaning.

I discussed with him stating that its not fair to impose the amount on me as there are also other people who lived in the same house.

He threathened me stating that he will throw me out of the country.(I am not a citizen).
He said all Blah.! Blah.! Blah! 1 and finally I got pissed of and asked him to proceed legally.
Now he is stating that he is going to credit bureau.

We do not have anything written in the lease document except my personal information.
It does not contain any inforamtion regarding the period of stay, rent,or any details.

Also he asked all the persons who lived in his house to transfer the amount to his cousins bank account every month which we actually did with out suspecting that this is going to happen.

Now if he happened to report to the credit bureau. How would I know and how could I fight against him.

Do I need to call the credit bureau and find out the info if there are any reports on my account?

    Experts please suggest.Thank you

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. To avoid confusion I've moved your post to it's own thread.

Second, your landlord is bluffing. He can report an eviction or late rental payments to a credit bureau. So you should have a credit monitoring service.

But he can't get you deported. He can't change your rental arrangement without 30 days notice.
