I’m very serious about my girlfriend, she’s a really beautiful girl, but she has Bipolar Disorder. I knew something was wrong but I wasn’t sure exactly what it was. I don’t know what to do sometimes. She goes from being so sweet and affectionate and very calm to going into these episodes of extreme rage/anger and depression. She’ll throw things/break things, scream and cry, act likes she’s having a severe tantrum. She even start biting me. You never know when her mood is going to swing. I feel like I have to watch everything I say because any little thing could trigger it. After the argue she leaves me for couple of days complete ignore. I love and adore this girl and I really don’t want to just give up on her, but I just don’t know what to do to calm her. Any advice or experience?

Hi Kam, yes bipolar disorder is very unpredictable. Is she receiving any treatment, any medical support for her disorder? She obviously knows what is wrong with her, or you would not be able to explain in such detail what people with this disorder go through.

Thanks a lot for the answer. It helps a lot but she doesn't know or maybe she pretends that nothing wrong with her. The first and the most important problem we have is that when she gets upset for small things she leaves me and don't want to see me or talk to me. She looks into my eyes and says she was faking it for the past 11 months and never loved me. Day after when all is calm she goes back normal and loving me a lot. Dude I hate to be ignored. I'm a very straight forward guy. She wants me to run after her always. I am the one always initiation the conversation. If I don't call or MSG her she never initiate. I think it's in her Eastern European culture that way the men are like dogs running after ladies. Very frustrating.

So she is in denial about her condition, or her culture has something to do with her not addressing it medically. She is going to have to get professional help for this. It will escalate to the point where you will just not want to bother with the trauma any longer.

Can you discuss with her parents ?

Can you discuss it in length with her ?
