Urine storage question for dr. Bill.
I knew I was getting tested last Friday and I knew my test would include the EtG, so I collected a clean sample Thursday night around 8pm (into a sterile sample container) and placed it in the fridge. I did this because I wanted to have 1 drink with dinner. Anyway, the next day I took the urine sample out around 8am and used that for my specimine at the lab (I know the collector personally and they ignored the fact my urine wasn't at body temp). Anyway, I know my specimine is clean of drugs and alcohol, but will anything look abnormal from it being kept in a fridge for 12 hrs?

Urine consists of water and dissolved chemicals such as sodium, potassium, urea (formed from protein breakdown), and creatinine (formed from muscle breakdown; if any of these chemicals break down while being stored, they will know you were cheating.

Why would you come on here and tell us you cheated on your prescribed urine test?

When urine is obtained at the lab, they store it the same way you did. They will not be able to detect that it was refrigerated prior to you submitting it. I am surprised that the collector did not test it for proper temperature as that is very basic.

I feel that I must also advise you to be very careful when making the choice to substitute urine. In addition to failing the test, in many states, it is also a crime to substitute urine!
For example, in South Carolina, it is a misdemeanor to alter or attempt to defraud information provided on a drug screening test. Drug screening organizations that are found guilty of altering or defrauding drug tests can receive a fine up to $5,000. They can also receive a court order to serve up to three years in prison. Second or greater offenses are considered felonies and are punishable by up to five years in prison or/and a fine of $10,000.
In NC, here is the law:
14 401.20. Defrauding drug and alcohol screening tests; penalty.
    (a) It is unlawful for a person to do any of the following:(1) Sell, give away, distribute, or market urine in this State or transport urine into this State with the intent that it be used to defraud a drug or alcohol screening test.
    (2) Attempt to foil or defeat a drug or alcohol screening test by the substitution or spiking of a sample or the advertisement of a sample substitution or other spiking device or measure.
    (b) It is unlawful for a person to do any of the following:
    (1) Adulterate a urine or other bodily fluid sample with the intent to defraud a drug or alcohol screening test.
    (2) Possess adulterants that are intended to be used to adulterate a urine or other bodily fluid sample for the purpose of defrauding a drug or alcohol screening test.
    (3) Sell adulterants with the intent that they be used to adulterate a urine or other bodily fluid sample for the purpose of defrauding a drug or alcohol screening test.
    (c) A violation of this section is punishable as follows:
    (1) For a first offense under this section, the person is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
    (2) For a second or subsequent offense under this section, the person is guilty of a Class I felony. (2002 183, s. 1.
Check where you test. There may be similar laws.
