I have the implanon but I think I'm pregnant I've had a positive test
    Hi,
My name is Candy Im 24yrs. Old I've had the IMPLANON in for 2yrs. This past April and its not supposed to be expired until April 2013, but I've been real emotionial lately crying a lot which I thought it was due to stress never would've thought I could be pregnant knowing that the percentage of getting pregnant while on IMPLANON is very low. So my husband is the one who brought it to my attention "oh maybe your pregnant" so for the peace of mind we bought a box of pregnancy test which contained two tests... first came back positive and second came back negative after doing so went to different clinics to get another opinion. After four pregnancy tests only one was positive and I also did a blood test which was also negative on 7/20/12 only thing that's bothering me is that I haven't had my period for month of July yet when Ive been having one every month while on my birth control and that positive test is still picking at my mind... so please help if you have any info. Or advice

    Thank you,

The implanon can cause pregnancy-like side effects, unfortunately, so there's no way to tell from listening to your body. Second option is a home pregnancy test - but this can be unreliable as you may find a 'dud' that says your pregnant when you aren't and visa versa. But, not all hope is lost - you can go to the doctor/hospital for a blood test, testing for pregnancy. If this is negative or positive and you aren't satisfied, get the doctor to recommend an ultrasound professional to check out everything for you... Just explain to him/her that you've heard of many stories regarding the implanon giving negative results from thinking you're pregnant, to home tests to blood tests - and you want to be 100% certain that the negative results were negative for a reason.

Doing this will strengthen your trust in the implanon, in my opinion. I'm going for a blood test in a few days to see if I'm pregnant on the implanon, as I've read so much on false negatives or positives (maybe these people are testing too early or getting 'duds') and I want to make sure that my home pregnancy test was negative for a reason.

I've had the implanon for four months now - and I feel exactly the same - a negative pregnancy test eases your mind a bit, but there's still that 'what if... ' in your mind. The doctor I obtained a script for the implanon did not actually mention side effects other than brusing easier and mood swings, which was good back then, but now that I FEEL pregnant, and the doctor was pathetic at telling me everything, it picks at my mind like crazy. And the fact that the doctor did not test me for pregnancy before I had the insertion... They just took a (slightly late) period as their guide (because the doctor was Christian and assumed that I never had sex, even though I told him... He was like *Laughs* "Oh no, I don't think you'd do that before eighteen." (I'm 17 and a half)) - and I got the insertion after my period anyway as I live in a small town and it was hard to get a nurse on as well as a doctor, where I was meant to get it during my period.

I now have no period, and I haven't for three months. I've gained weight mostly in the stomach region - drives me nuts as it feels like there's something in there.

I can't get into the doctor for 5 more days, I missed my full period this month, no cramps, no sore boobes, no moodswings or cravings, nothing, but I took 3 tests and they all showed up with one full red line, and another light pink line. Is there ANY chance that I'm not pregnant?
