Turn the water off. Lift the float arm up and rotate the cap counter clockwise a little bit and the cap will lift off. You will then see a black circular seal. Lift the seal off. Put a cup over the fill valve and turn the water back on. Have water? If so, flush well, turn the water off and put the cap back on, lifting the arm and turning clockwise. Turn the water back on and you should be good to go. If you have no water coming out of the fill valve, you have a blocked angle stop or another blockage and will need to trace that back.

Are you sure the shutoff under the toilet is on? Sometimes the handles corrode and spin but do not turn the water on. If you are sure you have water on, turn the angle stop off. Remove the hose from the ballcock, put a towel over it and carefully open the angle stop. Water?

Toilet not filling [ 5 Answers ]

I recently had my house re-plumbed because of polybutylene (spelling?) leaks. I was very happy with the results except for one thing. The toilet in the master bath, when flushed, doesn't seem to drain completely. Water comes into the tank and right as the waste leaves the bowl, the water stops...
