 Greetings, Current setup: Three small rooms, each with its own 120 volt baseboard electric heat, each with a 25 year old wall mount single pole, line voltage thermostat. All 3 room heaters are on the same breaker. Current single pole thermostat connections have 3 wires: black, red and white....

 I have installed a new wall heater and it came with a single pole thermosat, after I had it all wired I cannot get it to shut off regardless of which way you turn the stat.

Double pole or single pole thermostat for baseboard heater

 A more specific question here: My 240v baseboard heater says it can be wired with a single or double pole thermostat. Since 240v is already "dual pole" with two hots, do I want to stick with a double pole thermostat? Are there advantages/disadvantages to each? Thanks. View more questions Search
