    Hotpoint disposal Model HMA300
    My disposal is making a very,very loud sound when I flip the switch to turn on... it spins though... a smokey smell kind of is in the air... afraid I am burning up something... so, afraid to turn on...
    Disposal was here when I bought the house... don't know how old it is... It is a Model HMA300--23 Serial GZ153818Y by Hotpoint

    Make sure there is nothing in the disposal. Next, look at the sliding grinder bars. When they get old and wear they hit the sides or come off. Anything more than 5-8 years old is a gift . Easy to replace, I do them in less than an hour.
