    Saw
Have a miter saw and works okay. But it is very limited. It does not cut
More than a few inches out. I had to cut a board 24" x24" had a difficult time.
Had to finish with a skill saw. Some have told me I need a table saw.

But it has to be small. I am lousy cutting wood straight. See picture what I got now

Yes, a table saw is what you need. However, you can get a clamping edge guide and use a portable saw too.

I have a small table-top table saw with a 10" blade. You can get mini table saws with 4" blades.
I paid something like $85 for it shipped (ebay I think). It's mostly plastic parts - an upside down skill saw. But it does the job if you aren't using it day in and out.

    Pick them up
I am like you,I use it only occasionally. I will have to think about it.

Get a 10". 4" will bog down in heavy cutting and burn out.
