Mohit:
On the federal Firm W-4, claim MARRIED with TWO allowances. Do the same for NY STATE.
You are NOT a resident of NYC, so you are NOT liable for NYC income tax.
While you DO have to file a
NJ state income tax return, you will owe ZERO NJ income tax, because the credit you get for the NY STATE income taxes paid will more than offset any NJ tax liability. For this reason, have NO NJ income tax withheld from your paycheck.

I do not qualify for any of below, still Is it advisable to put Exempt on NJ-W4,
Enter “EXEMPT” to indicate that you are exempt from New Jersey Gross Income Tax Withholdings, if you meet one of the following conditions:
• Your filing status is SINGLE or MARRIED/CIVIL UNION COUPLE SEPARATE and your wages plus your taxable non-wage
Income will be $10,000 or less for the current year.
• Your filing status is MARRIED JOINT/CIVIL UNION COUPLE, and your wages combined with your spouse’s/civil union
Partner wages plus your taxable non-wage income will be $20,000 or less for the current year.
• Your filing status is HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD or QUALIFYING WIDOW(ER)/SURVIVING CIVIL UNION PARTNER and your
Wages plus your taxable non-wage income will be $20,000 or less for the current year

Talk to your payroll. It makes no sense to have taxes withheld for NJ when, in the end, youvwill fet it all back.

Hi all,
I live in Queens, NY, and my office is in NJ.
When I do my taxes I have to do NY and NJ because of this.
I have been offered to transfer to a NYC based office in Manhattan. I already work out of that office but I am not officially assigned there.
I am told it might be beneficial...
